A Little Library for Big Readers (Coming Soon!)

School has been busy with the second semester of freshman year, but I’ve been working on a small project outside of classes that I’m really excited about. I’m planning to set up a Little Library in our front yard to help encourage reading in our neighborhood.

The idea is simple: anyone can stop by, take a book, leave a book, and help keep stories circulating in the community. I love how books can help us learn new things, explore different perspectives, and just relax after a busy day. I hope this little library will make it easier for kids and families in the neighborhood to pick up something new to read whenever they pass by.

Right now, the project is in progress. I’ve reached out to our HOA and am working through the approval process before setting it up. While waiting, I’m already thinking about how to stock it — children’s books, young adult novels, fun reads, maybe even some STEM and art books to connect with the themes I enjoy sharing here on SlamDunkAndSketches.

I also hope to organize a small neighborhood book drive so more people can contribute books and feel connected to the project. It’s a small step, but if even a few kids discover new favorite books because of it, that would make it worth it.

I’ll share updates as soon as the library gets approved and installed. Hopefully, the next update will include pictures of the finished setup and the first set of books ready to share.

Stay tuned!
